Volunteer Spotlight
Jim Kone
At MountainStar, volunteers make an incredible impact—and Jim Kone is one of the best examples of that. He first joined us as a classroom volunteer, offering his time and care to support children in our programs. But his contributions didn’t stop there.
Jim quickly became an invaluable part of our development efforts, assisting with everything from event inventory and preparation to hands-on support at our Birdies 4 Babies fundraiser. He even went the extra mile to solicit 30 bottles of wine donations from friends to help stock our popular Wall of Wine at the gala.
Beyond events, Jim has taken on handyman projects at our Bend site, including building furniture, installing shelving, and—most recently—constructing all 35 diaper drive boxes for our annual Central Oregon Diaper Drive, held this month as part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
And Jim’s impact is still growing! Soon, he’ll be using his event management and past business connections to help spread the word about our Partners 4 Kids campaign.
Jim’s dedication, flexibility, and joyful spirit are a gift to all of us at MountainStar! His weekly volunteering not only lightens our workload but also reminds us that there are so many ways to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable families.
Jim, we truly can’t thank you enough!! You are a treasure.
