The Relief Nursery Model Is A Solution
We know that child abuse and neglect happens right here in Central Oregon. That fact is sobering, but it is reassuring to know that our therapeutic services (made possible by community support, donations, and grants) are making a real difference. That's been proven by an outside evaluator. Take a look at this report by Pacific Research and Evaluation, on the Oregon Relief Nursery website to learn about how we are meeting our goals and impacting our community.

MountainStar Provides a Quality Return on Investment to the Children, Families and Community
Children who experience adverse childhood experiences often struggle meeting developmental stages leading to challenges at home, school, in their social life and beyond into adulthood including work, finances and relationships. However, when MountainStar is able to step in and assist, the child and family benefit from the investment made into their lives.
The families that MountainStar serves gain parental education, employment, and decreased use of government assistance.
The child receives social-emotional skills to communicate with parents and caregivers, leading to higher education, more income and stability in the future. The community sees decreases in abuse and neglect, keeping children out of foster care and the juvenile justice system.
